1. Deductibility

The Optima Strategy Private Portfolio program gives you the ability to deduct all management fees on non-registered (open, i.e. non-RRSP / RRIF) accounts from your earned income.

2. Rebates

Volume discounts do apply.  All dollars managed over $250,000 are eligible for a free discount, which is rebated directly back to your account.  For amounts over $250,000 the rebate is 0.25%.  Over $250,000 it is at 0.35% and over $750,000 it is at 0.50%.

3. Tax Efficient

The Optima Strategy portfolio is constructed so that taxes are minimized whenever possible.  The highest taxed investments (i.e. fixed income) are strategically placed in the registered accounts first and the lower taxed spouse's  non-registered account second.  This also can add an extra 1.25% annually to your return.

4. Highly Customized Design

The Optima Strategy private portfolio program provides detailed "profiling" of your unique situation which leads to the development of an Investment Policy Statement (I.P.S.).  This document clearly outlines the highly customized design of your portfolio including the asset allocation decision which studies have shown can account for over 91% of a portfolio's long term returns.  It is therefore key that the I.P.S. gets it right the first time.

There are only a handful of companies in North America that use the same type of asset allocation program we use to design your portfolio.  While few are in Canada; we are the only ones that make it available for individual clients.  The other organizations work with large institutions alone and charge $25,000 to access the same program.   Research has shown that high quality asset allocation may add as much as 1.25% annually to your overall return.

5. Exclusivity

The Optima Strategy Private Portfolio Program is limited to those individuals with at least $100,000 to invest, and allows them to benefit from the expertise of Loring Ward Investment Counsel Ltd. one of the leading investment management organizations in the country.  Optima Strategy clients draw trust and assurance knowing that their long-term investment objectives are being well-maintained in an exclusive Private Portfolio Program.

6. Automatic Rebalancing

With the Optima Strategy Private Portfolio Program your portfolio is constantly monitored to ensure it stays on course, according to the parameters established in your Investment Policy Statement.  It is automatically re-balanced to account for cash inflows and outflows, as well as capital market functions, to maximize returns for your individual risk tolerance (or comfort) level.  Studies have shown that this rebalancing process alone can add 0.4% to 0.65% to your return over the long term.   Your portfolio is always efficiently balanced when going into down markets, and benefits from further rebalancing is done at these times to ensure your investment course is maintained.

7. Income Splitting

The potential to increase long term returns by up to 0.30% by paying management fees outside of your registered plans.  This also provides an opportunity for income-splitting as you can direct the management fee to the higher taxed family member (although RRSP fees are not tax deductible).

8. Daily Income Allocation

Your tax liability upon investing into Optima Strategy, and subsequently adding cash to your account, is yours and yours alone.  The tax savings can effectively add up to 1.25% to your return on new money annually.  No other program in Canada does this.

9. Individual Asset Allocation

With the Optima Strategy Private Portfolio Program your stated asset allocation is a true reflection of your overall long-term investment objectives.   Diversification is not only applied to the stocks, bonds and cash that make up your asset class mix, but to the securities that comprise the asset classes themselves.

10. Superior Reporting

Optima Strategy offers one of the most comprehensive reporting protocols in the industry.  Reporting is quarterly and consolidated, providing clients with the value of their investments, their performance over time, their composition, the rate of return for the period (and on an annualized basis), fees paid, performance comparison to T-Bills, and other important information.

11. Complimentary Manager Styles

Through normal market movement different manager styles will fall in and out of favour, resulting in managers both out-performing and under-performing one another.   In the Optima Strategy Private Portfolio the managers possess complimentary styles thereby leveling out value fluctuations, controlling risk within each section and providing an additional level of diversification.
